Maintaining a horizontal milling machine isn't actually that complicated. The core steps are: cleaning, lubrication, and standardized operation. Consistent adherence to these practices will significantly extend the machine's accuracy and lifespan.
Daily Maintenance
Cleaning: After each day's work, use a cloth and brush to remove chips, oil, and dust, paying particular attention to cleaning moving parts such as guideways and lead screws.
Lubrication:
Guideway Lubrication: Apply lubricating oil to the guideway surface weekly to maintain an intact oil film.
Lubrication System Inspection: Check the oil level, oil pump, and pipelines monthly to ensure adequate lubrication and no leaks.
Other Lubrication Points: Regularly add lubricating oil or grease to bearings, gears, and other components.
Accuracy Inspection: Check the flatness of the worktable and the straightness of the guideways quarterly. Adjust promptly if any decrease in accuracy is detected.
Regular Maintenance
Level 1 Maintenance: Performed approximately every 500 hours of operation by a mechanic and operator. This includes cleaning the lead screw, adjusting guideway clearance, and inspecting the electrical system. Secondary Maintenance: Performed according to machine tool usage and manufacturer specifications, involving more in-depth inspection, adjustment, and repair. It is recommended to have this performed by qualified personnel.
Precautions
Operating Procedures: Before starting the machine, check the lubrication system and protective devices. Overloading and placing tools on the worktable are strictly prohibited.
Safety First: Always disconnect the power supply during maintenance to prevent accidental start-up.
Environmental Control: Keep the machine tool's working environment clean, dry, and well-ventilated.
Record Filing: Establish a maintenance file, recording maintenance content and time for traceability and planning.
Maintenance Oil Selection
Guideway Oil: We recommend using No. 32 guideway oil, which has moderate viscosity and good lubrication.
Gear Oil: For the main gearbox and feed gearbox, we recommend using oil-immersed splash lubrication. Clean the oil sump regularly.
Grease: Bearings and other components can be lubricated with grease or by filling with an oil cup.
